2007 Mid-Continent Region's Annual Regional Convention and Train Show

The 2007 Mod-Continent Region's Regional Convention and Train Show will be held on Saturday August 4th from 8:30 AM  to 2 PM at the Lenexa Community Center in Lenexa, Kansas.

This year's meet is filled with activity, with a special emphasis on the model contest. If you have a model (or as many as you choose) feel free to enter them. There has been a dearth of models in recent years, and this year they are out to change that, even offering an incentive to get contestants!  Each model entered (up to five chances) will be entered to win a $50 gift voucher to a local hobby shop or home supply store. You can enter as many models as you like, but only five chances to win. This division meet contest is by popular vote, not NMRA judging, so no paperwork! So get to work and get your model entries entered soon!

Activities Planned for This Years Meet:

How-To Clinics - A veritable plethora of how-to clinics covering many and varied aspects of the hobby. Come and learn a new technique!

Model and Photo Contests ñ This year in two classes, both by popular vote as well as by MRA judges. The aforementioned contest, I'm sure will be a great competition, so be sure to be a part of this! There will also be awards for Light Iron Narrow Gauge and a Special Youth Award celebrating the best overall youth entry.

Door Prizes - Advance registrants will also have the chance to win several exciting door prizes.

Display Layout and Layout Tours - There will be a main display layout at the event hall, as well as several layouts offsite at the homes of local modelers during both the afternoon and evening. You can get maps for these at the time you register for the event. This is a great way to see new and interesting ways your fellow model railroad enthusiasts have created their layouts, and a great social event to boot!

Swap Tables and Railroad Groups - This year we expect to have more than 70 tables displaying the wares of local dealers, hobbyists and assorted railroad groups. If you'd like more information on this aspect contact Robert Jefferis.

Food and Refreshments - Boy Scout Troop 92 will have food and other refreshments available during the show.

Advance Registration is $4 ($6 at door; $5 NMRA). Kids under 12 are free.

This year's event should be loads of fun! Try and make it if you can.
